On the morning of May 31st, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam hosted a seminar titled “Sharing Practical Experiences in In-house Legal Practice and Law Firm Careers.”
The event featured Lawyer Nguyễn Đức Anh, Managing Partner of A&D Law Firm and Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Law – Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, as the keynote speaker, alongside Lawyer Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, Partner at LNT & Partners.
The seminar attracted strong interest from law students, offering valuable insights and practical knowledge about the journey of becoming a lawyer and the diverse career paths in the legal profession.
At the seminar, the speakers were not only legal professionals but also mentors who, through their approachable and insightful sharing, brought students a more practical perspective on the journey to becoming a lawyer. Their valuable experiences offered by the previous generation helped students better visualize the legal profession and the realities of legal practice.
Thanks to these authentic exchanges, students from the Faculty of Law gained clearer career orientation, with the opportunity to deepen their understanding and enrich their personal development through the diverse viewpoints shared by both speakers.
With years of experience serving as General Counsel at major corporations across the country, as well as practicing at reputable law firms, Lawyer Nguyễn Đức Anh opened the seminar by introducing various forms of legal practice and comparing the daily work of an in-house counsel versus a lawyer at a law firm.
Delving deeper into the role of in-house counsel, he emphasized the importance and responsibilities of legal professionals in risk management, rapid information processing, ensuring regulatory compliance throughout business operations, collaborating effectively with internal departments, and building and maintaining a strong legal team within the organization.
“As an in-house counsel, beyond possessing in-depth legal expertise relevant to the business sectors of the company, a lawyer must also cultivate knowledge in business management, accounting, finance, human resources, and more. In addition, they need to develop skills in team management, building internal and external networks, and effectively resolving internal corporate conflicts.”

Following Lawyer Nguyễn Đức Anh’s insightful sharing, Lawyer Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, drawing from his many years of experience at LNT & Partners, provided a comprehensive perspective on the day-to-day responsibilities and pressures faced by practicing lawyers at law firms.
He shed light on the common difficulties and challenges encountered not only by recent law graduates but also by seasoned legal practitioners. In addition, he offered practical solutions and advice to students of the Faculty of Law – Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam on how to adapt to and navigate these challenges effectively throughout their legal careers.

After the presentations by the two speakers, students had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session and interact directly with the lawyers. Numerous questions regarding essential skills and career orientation were raised and enthusiastically addressed by the speakers, providing valuable guidance and encouragement to the aspiring legal professionals.
As the seminar concluded, representatives of the organizing committee and students presented souvenirs as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation to the two speakers. This event served as a valuable opportunity for students to gain deeper insights into the legal profession, helping them shape their own career paths and open promising new chapters on their journey to pursue a future in law.
